Transform Your Garden with Our Contemporary ChimineasEnjoy your outdoor spaces during the colder months and into the evenings all year round with a stylish garden chiminea. Traditionally used in Spain and Mexico for domestic heating and cooking, chimineas are now more common in gardens to offer a source of warmth and ornamental design. We’ve added a 21st century contemporary twist to a 400-year-old proven design, using precise laser cutting technology to produce this beautiful and timeless tree of life design. At Weather It, we hand make all our metal chimineas out of heavy duty British 3mm steel, with a 6mm base plate for additional stability and robustness. What wood do you burn in a metal chiminea? We recommend you burn kiln dried wood in your chiminea. More flames are produced so you can see the beautiful tree of life design more clearly. We love watching the flames lick through the designs as the fire builds! Why buy our garden chiminea over any others:The fabrication:We only use the best, qualified welders who take pride in their work. We perform a full seam weld from the top to the bottom of the metal chiminea, whereas many other chimineas on the market will use a stitch weld which leaves gaps. This is important because:Chimineas are exposed to extreme high or sub-zero temperatures, a full weld gives the strength required to not warp and distort over years of constant use.It looks so much better! After welding, we take the time to finish / polish the weld, so it looks like a continuation of the steel. We also include five carefully placed air holes in the base plate to ensure the fire has a constant air feed and the fire draws air up through the chiminea and out of the top. This keeps a well-stocked fire warm but also minimises smoke from the mouth of the chiminea and away from the eyes. The material:We use the best British 3mm steel for the sides and 6mm steel for the base plate of our metal chimineas. Other cheaper and imported alternatives will not use high-quality steel. We offer superior quality, robustness and a chiminea that holds heat for longer, so you can have that extra drink outside on a cold evening. The paint:After welding we brush down any debris or excess materials and wash down to degrease the steel. This leaves a perfect canvas to allow our expert spray painters to apply the heatproof paint. The chiminea is then left to dry in a dust free location before being packaged ready for shipping so you receive an unblemished chiminea ready to enjoyA choice of painted finishesAfter welding, we brush down any debris or excess materials and wash down to degrease the steel. See our delivery policy for more information. How do I maintain my metal chiminea? You don’t have to. Honestly! You may wish to purchase one of our waterproof covers to help prolong the painted finish.Other things to noteThe rustic patina finish may produce ‘run-off’ from rainwater and stain the surface the chiminea is placed upon.We recommend placing your metal chiminea on an even surface or one that won’t be damaged by the heat – such as wood or composite decking.Place your chiminea on a flag stone or a similar barrier to reduce the risk of damaging the surface.FAQsWhat is a chiminea and how does it work?A garden chiminea is a freestanding, front-loading outdoor fireplace with a vertical chimney. Timber is loaded in the front facing mouth and lit, with the smoke being directed up and away, providing heat, ambience and a tranquil feature for your garden. Why choose a metal chiminea over other types?Metal chimineas are more durable, heat-resistant and more portable. The metal heats up quicker and more evenly, providing efficient warmth and longer-lasting performance compared to clay or cast-iron types. Along with our full weld seams, your chiminea will not only look stunning but add to the metal’s longevity thanks to the elimination of gaps from a stitch weld. How do I light a fire in the chiminea? To light a fire in a garden chiminea, place kiln dried wood and fire lighter cubes in the mouth and ignite with a match or lighter. As the fire builds, add larger logs to keep it burning. Ensure proper airflow by keeping the chimney clear. Keep adding wood to keep the fire alive or let it slowly burn out and enjoy the warm ambience of the embers. Is the chiminea safe to use on all surfaces? No, it is important to place your chiminea on non-flammable surfaces and not those that are susceptible to damage from heat, such as wooden decking. If you plan to place it on wooden decking, for example, you should place the chiminea on a fire-resistant surface barrier like stone, brick or concrete. How should I store the chiminea when not in use? When not in use, either use a protective cover for your chiminea or store it in a dry, sheltered area such as a garage or shed to protect it from moisture. Our Corten steel chimineas benefit from developing an oxidised patina that protects against rust and moisture damage, while displaying stunning visuals.
